Movies/Scenes Representing Emmaus
Road/Recognition Scenes
- Double Jeopardy (1999)
- Matty finds sees his mother whom he thought was dead. ("They told me you were dead." "No, Sweetheart.") (DVD chapter 15)
- The Postman (1997)
- There's a great "Emmaus Road" scene in "The Postman". The young woman meets The Postman and Abby on the road and tells them the legend of The Postman, not knowing that it is him. When Postmaster Ford Lincoln Mercury recognizes The Postman (as he reads the letter and asks who knows what "p.s." means), the young woman says that she knew all along that it was him. (DVD Chapter 29)
- Hook (1991)
- The scene where Peter Panny is trying to be recognised by the Lost Boys. Finally one of them comes up to him, pulls and squeezes his face around, and pronounces "It IS you Peter!" (Bob Barnes)
- Babbette's Feast (1987)
- I reckon the wonderful "Babette's Feast" is worth mentioning in the context of Jesus' making himself known in the Breaking of the Bread. It's a great allegory of the one who gives all for those who have despised him, and who "turns them from enemies into friends", and the encounter of the "Emmaus Road Two" is as good as any story to connect with the movie.
